
Hash Marks
Some of the things you'll hear on the trail:
"Are You...?" - This is called by the
pack to the front runners to ask if they are on trail
"On On!" - Called by members of the pack to indicate they are
on trail
"Hash!" - Called out by pack members to indicate they have
just spotted hash
Here is a list of the family-friendly hash marks you would encounter on trail

| Hash - a blob of flour usually on the ground, indicating the trail | Check Point - trail mark indicating an intersection where true trail may take another direction | Bad trail - go back to the last checkpoint and look for the true trail. |

| Hare arrow (aka "Harrow")- An arrow drawn only by the hare indicating the true trail. This arrow is never found on a false trail | Hound or Pack arrow - an arrow drawn by the pack indicating which way they've gone. Not drawn by the hares. | Check Back a certain number of hash marks. In this example you'd go back three hash marks and look for the true trail |

Beer (or
Beverages) Near! Indicates either a Hash Halt is coming up, or
the end of the trail

Turkey and
Eagle Trail - this gives an easy (Turkey) and a hard (Eagle) option
for the runs. They will rejoin somewhere down the trail.

fooled! The trail you are following is a bad trail. go back
to the last checkpoint and look for the true trail
